Social Media Linking Terms

1. Overview

The Social Civic Number (SCN) system allows you to link your social media profiles to create a unified digital identity. This feature enhances your civic networking experience by making it easier for community members to connect with you across platforms.

Benefits of social media linking include:

• Simplified discovery by other SCN holders
• Verified digital identity across platforms
• Enhanced community networking opportunities
• Centralized profile management

Supported platforms: YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, and Facebook Pages.

2. Data We Collect

When you link a social media account, we collect the following information based on platform permissions:

Facebook:

• Name and Facebook user ID
• Email address
• Profile picture URL
• Location (if provided)
• Birthday (if provided)
• About section text
• Friend count (if available)

Instagram:

• Username and Instagram user ID
• Full name
• Profile picture URL
• Biography text
• Website URL
• Account type (personal/business)
• Media count
• Follower and following counts

YouTube:

• Channel ID and title
• Channel description
• Channel thumbnail URL
• Custom URL (if set)
• Subscriber count
• Video count
• Total view count

Twitter/X:

• Name and username
• Twitter user ID
• Profile image URL
• Location (if provided)
• Description/bio
• Follower and following counts
• Tweet count
• Verification status

LinkedIn:

• First and last name
• LinkedIn user ID
• Email address
• Profile picture URL
• Headline
• Country and language preferences

Facebook Pages:

• Page ID and name
• Page category
• Page picture URL
• Fan count
• Published status

3. How We Use Your Social Media Data

The social media data we collect is used exclusively for:

• Profile Display: Showing your social links on your SCN profile
• Identity Verification: Confirming you control the linked accounts
• Discovery: Allowing other SCN holders to find your social profiles
• Statistics: Displaying follower counts and engagement metrics
• Updates: Keeping your linked profile information current

Data Usage Limitations:

• We do not post on your social media accounts
• We do not access private messages or non-public content
• We do not sell your social media data
• We only refresh data when you manually trigger an update or during scheduled syncs

4. Data Security & Storage

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your social media data:

• OAuth 2.0 Authentication: We never store your social media passwords
• Encryption: All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256)
• Access Controls: Limited to authorized personnel only
• Regular Audits: Security assessments and penetration testing

Data Storage and Retention:

• Data is stored in secure cloud infrastructure
• Social media data is retained as long as your accounts remain linked
• Data is automatically removed when you unlink a social account
• Backups are retained for disaster recovery purposes

5. Your Rights & Control

You maintain full control over your linked social media profiles:

• Link/Unlink Anytime: Add or remove social profiles instantly
• Data Portability: Export all your data via our data export feature
• Right to Erasure: Delete specific profiles or your entire account
• Update Control: Choose when to refresh your social data
• Visibility Settings: Control who can see your social links

To withdraw consent:

1. Go to your SCN profile settings
2. Navigate to "Linked Accounts"
3. Click "Unlink" next to any social profile
4. Confirm the removal

Unlinking a social profile immediately removes all associated data from our systems.

6. Third-Party Responsibilities

When linking social media accounts, please understand:

• You remain bound by each platform's terms of service
• SCN.me acts as a data controller for the information we collect
• Social media platforms are independent data controllers
• We are not responsible for the platforms' data practices
• Platform API changes may affect available features

7. Updates to These Terms

We may update these Social Media Linking Terms to reflect:

• New social platforms or features
• Changes in data protection laws
• Updates to our services
• User feedback and improvements

Notification process:

• Email notification for major changes
• In-app notification upon next login
• 30-day notice period for material changes
• Re-consent required for significant updates

8. Acceptance and Agreement

By linking your social media accounts to SCN, you acknowledge that you have read and understood these terms and agree to be bound by them.

If you do not agree with these terms, please do not link your social media accounts to your SCN profile.
